HoundDog Technology has launched an easy, affordable Remote Support feature that helps IT Support Companies and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) take control of users’ desktops and resolve problems more quickly and at less cost, the company announced today. The new feature, which is free to all customers using HoundDog‘s Server Monitoring product on more than 10 devices, has received strong take-up during the first week of the release. Product Development Manager, Colin MacKenzie, said feedback from technicians had been very positive. “Once again we’ve strived to deliver an easier, more affordable tool for MSPs and IT Support Companies. Remote Support is accessed via the HoundDog DashBoard and uses secure, encrypted, outbound connections at either end, eliminating the need for VPNs, port forwarding or changes to the firewall. It doesn’t require Java plug-ins or Active X controls and it makes use of a very straight-forward, intuitive interface so it’s very easy for both IT Admin and the end-user,” he said. Phil Whitehead, Senior Engineer at Synergy Technology, found HoundDog’s Remote Support tool easy to use. “I carried out my first HoundDog Remote Support session using a USB mobile broadband connection. I was straight on and there was no messing, no waiting for sessions or session numbers, and no firewall issues,” he said. “I told all colleagues to get it on their systems right away,” he added.
