Colin MacKenzie has been appointed Product Management Director with HoundDog Technology following a steady year of growth and development for the Dundee based Remote Monitoring and Management tools vendor. MacKenzie, who joined HoundDog in 2005 as Global Sales Manager, will be responsible for the continued development of the HoundDog system, a set of systems monitoring and business tools that provide IT support companies an easy and affordable way to deliver proactive and increased service levels to their clients. Former Vice President of NCR Dundee, MacKenzie said the company’s growth combined with technology advancements and increased customer expectations has seen the need for a dedicated product development resource. “The range and complexity of our customer requirements has increased, our development team has tripled in size since our humble beginnings in 2003, and there is increasing competition in the market. The Product Management role was created to ensure that we continue to do a great job at giving customers what they need, as well as maintain our leadership in the market for easy and affordable tools for IT Support companies and Managed Service Providers,” he said. MacKenzie said he was looking forward to the challenge of improving the HoundDog system with more functionality, whilst maintaining the company’s ‘easy’ ethos. “One of our unique selling points is the ease with which our customers can get going. HoundDog takes about ten minutes to set-up, is easily configured using a step-by-step Wizard, and there’s no training required. So it is vital that in further developing our toolset we still keep it easy to use.” HoundDog has recently added a Rufferral Program and has made several improvements to its range of business reporting tools. Coming down the pipeline are enhancements to the system’s user interface, the online DashBoard, to make it even easier to add or alter checks, and broadening the range of remote support and workstation monitoring features in line with customer requirements.
