HoundDog bites back at the credit crunch with value-based pricing model

Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools vendor HoundDog Technology is staying strong in the current economic climate reporting an 11 per-cent boost in sales from September to October 2008.

Chief Executive Doug Wilson believes the rise in sales proves HoundDog’s risk-free, value-based pricing model is really coming into its own.

“HoundDog has always had a great set of tools, delivering both technical and business benefits that help IT Support companies build efficiencies while generating additional revenues. What we’re finding now is that our pricing model that couples affordability with very low risk is really proving popular with IT Support companies during these troubled times. Our sales are up eleven percent month-on-month in October, and we think it’s because of our fair approach,” he said.

Established in 2003 to help IT support companies monitor and administer their small business clients, HoundDog took a unique approach to pricing their system on a pay-only-for-what-you-use basis in a market where lengthy contracts and license fees are the norm.

“We don’t believe in charging our customers upfront nor do we believe in charging customers for features they don’t use,” Wilson said. “Instead we keep things straight down the line, applying a charge only for the parts of the system they use, and I think they really appreciate this fair, equitable way of doing business.”

“We pretty much operate without a safety net and do not believe in locking customers into long-term contracts. If they find that HoundDog is not working for them, they can turn us off at any time and we stop billing them that day. Having said that, we find that less than one per-cent do turn us off within a year, so we know we are doing a good job,” he added.
